COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 9,1998 PSA#2070Tennessee Valley Authority, Procurement, 1101 Market Street,
Chattanooga, TN 37402 61 -- COMPRESSION-TYPE CONNECTOR FOR USE WITH ALUMINUM BUS SOL
1E-233230 DUE 042698 POC Bill Murray fax: 423-751-8348 phone:
423-751-2346 TVA is searching for suppliers of a specific type of
connector for use in electrical power substations. It is for use with
aluminum tubular bus measuring up to 5 inches NPS. A very important
feature of this connector is that it is compression-type, could almost
be called a "crimp". The way the process being used works is the
connector is fitted-on the bus, and clamped onto it with a special
tool, which is also an investment. (The tooling would be described and
priced in the offer as a separate item.) The connector must have
mechanical, thermal and electrical characteristics equal to or better
than welded connectors. The connectors must meet the requirements of
ANSI C119.4 and NEMA CC1 standards. The connectors must be easier and
faster to install than welded type connectors. Various types of
fittings are required, e.g. bus to bus; bus to end cap; bus to 4 hole
NEMA pad; elbows; tees; etc. Again, this message is just to identify
possible suppliers, and not to request an offer. The offer will come
later. One supplier has been identified that can furnish the product
described. Before issuing a multi-year blanket order for it, TVA wishes
to seek out competition for a similar "weldless, compression-type"
connector, with required tooling for use in installation. Any company
that believes it has a product that fits this description, and wishes
to offer it to TVA is encouraged to fax a notice of your interest to
Bill Murray, TVA contract manager, at the number provided in this
message. Phone calls are also welcome. Please respond before April 27,
1998, when a solicitation will be sent to identified sources. (0097) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0355 19980409\61-0005.SOL)
