The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport intends to procure, on a sole source basis, design, fabrication, and mounting of water tunnel segments and auxiliary equipment. Government drawings of the existing facility appropriate for competition do not exist. The contract will be awarded to Aerolab of Laurel, MD. Aerolab is the original manufacturer of the tunnel and holds the design specifications that have to be matched for the fabrication and installation of the tunnel segments to ensure tunnel flow performance parameters are not compromised. A firm fixed price contract is contemplated with delivery nine months after award. Simplified acquisition procedures apply. Aerolab is a small business. Anticipated award date is 15 May 1998.
