70 -- PURCHASE OF GIS SOFTWARE FOR NON-UNIX PLATFORMS INCLUDING DOCUMENTATION/MEDIA, AND MAINTENANCE SUPPORT SERVICES POC Francine Harris (ACO) 703-648-7386 Market Search: The U.S. Geological Survey intends to enter into non-competitive negotiations with Environmental Systems Research Institute of Redlands, California to modify Contract (No. 1434-HQ-97-CN-30368), awarded July 1997, for the procurement of additional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and associated documentation compatible with Arc/INFO software already procured under this contract. These additional software products will execute on non-UNIX computer platforms and will also be able to directly access and query the Arc/INFO vector and raster spatial data sets generated by Arc/INFO software operating on USGS UNIX computer platforms, thereby ensuring compatibility of operations across all UNIX and non-UNIX platforms. The USGS has a major investment in development of Arc/INFO spatial data sets for UNIX platforms. This major investment coupled with technology advancements in non-UNIX operating system computer platforms warrants a sole source negotiation to continue to run coincident with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS-II) contract awarded to ESRI in April 1993, which expires April 1999. Firms who believe they can provide the above are invited to submit an affirmative response within 15 days of the publication date of this notice, in accordance with Numbered Note 22. An affirmative response shall include literature, brochures, and other such information which demonstrates the vendor's ability to provide the software, documentation, media, and maintenance support .
