16 -- RUGGED VME/MASS STORAGE CHASSIS SOL N68335-98-R-0189 DUE 042098 POC Stephanie Jenkins-Leonard, Code 2132SJB129-2, (732) 323-2818, FAX (732) 323-4822 The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurts, NJ intends to procure Rugged VME/Mass Storage Chassis in support of the P-3 Special Projects Aircraft. It is intended to solicit and negotiate with Aydin Displays, 700 Dresher Road, Horsham, PA under the authority of FAR 6.302, and an approved Justification and Approval for 6 each Rugged VME/Mass Storage Chassis, part number 355-0357-501. Aydin Displays is considered the only supplier capable of providing these items at this time. The items to be procured are commercial off the shelf items and will be solicited utilizing simplified procedures under subpart 13.6, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. A solicitation will be released in 9 days from date of publication of this notice, with response due within 6 days from solicitation issue. Since delivery of these items must commence by May 1998, Aydin is the only supplier capable of providing the items to fully meet the requirements. The Government does not have technical data sufficient to compete the requirements. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 15 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. (0099)
