develop a viable acquisition for the SHARP system, comments from
industry are requested to support development of acquistion strategy
and milestones for the enhanced reconnaissance capability. Respondents
will be requested to provide information regarding the following
items: 1) Feasibility of 24 month Phase I delivery from contract award
including design, manufacture, and test to support Low Rate Initial
Production (LRIP) milestone decision. Specifics should include proposed
integration and flight test schedule showing Preliminary Design Review
(PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and manufacturing timetable. 2)
Feasibility of 18 month LRIP system delivery support production
verification testing and fleet introduction following favorable LRIP
decision. 3) Risk analysis related to performance and delivery
requirements. 4) Details, qualifications or flight certification for an
existing candidate pod structure. Standing requirements to deploy the
integrated system in less than five years mandates a streamlined
acquistition approach. Only respondents who demonstrate the capabilty
to deliver and support integration of a successful system need reply.
All potential respondents possessing demonstrated capability as system
integrators for podded reconnaissance systems and who have proven
accessibility to existing high performance, wide-area digital
reconnaissance NDI/COTS cameras are encouraged to reply. Draft
documents outlining the contemplated reconnaissance system acquisition
strategy will be made available to respondents. To obtain the
