THIRD PHASE FEASIBILITY OF CARBON DIOXIDE DISPOSAL IN DEEP SALINE AQUIFERS IN THE MIDWEST DESC: The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Federal Energy Technology Center (FETC), announces that it intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to Battelle located in Columbus, Ohio to continue the third phase evaluation of feasibility of CO2 disposal in a deep saline aquifer in the midwestern United States. The major focus of this phase of work will be on the incorporation of the previously compiled data into reservoir simulation and geochemical models to determine hydrodynamic, geochemical, and environmental constraints on CO2 injection in the saline aquifers.
