E-MAIL: Adele C. Szuhai, Adele.C.Szuhai@lerc.nasa.gov. DESCRIPTION -- Specifications for ICCD Camera System: Controller Card will possess the following properties: 1. Consist fo a single ISA buss PC card: 2. Possess dual 16 bit A/D converters with software selectable readout rates of 1 MHz to 62 KHz through multiple TTL I/O connections from a DB25 pin connector. 3. Controller card will not require external controller box. The camera detector head will possess the following properties: 1. The detector head will be sealed such that external flushing or purging with inert gas is unnecessary. 2. All high voltage gating electronics will be built into the head so that a TTL trigger pulse supplied to the head can open and close the gate. Thus no external high voltage power supply and pulse generator are needed. 3. When used with an 18 mm intensifier, a minimum optical gate of 5 ns (full-width at half maximum) will be obtained. 4. The readout rate will be 16 bit at 1 MHz readout rate. 5. The detector head will be no larger than 200 mm long, 100 mm high and 100 mm wide (excluding lenses). Software: 1. Unit shall operate using either spectroscopic or imaging software controlling software. 2. Unit shall automatically vary gate delay for data acquisition of Kinetics data. 3. Unit shall possess either internal or external triggering capability. 0-G operation; 1. The controller card, TTL breakout box and detector head will be capable of operation in any orientation, in both 1-g and 0-g environments. 2. Each of these hardware items will be capable of operation during and after 30 g shock levels.A selection of intensifier spectral response curves will be supplied prior to manufacture of our camera so that we may pick one. CCD Properties: 1. Number of active pixels (array) shall be 576x384 (readable). 2. Effective pixel size (microns) shall be 28.6. 3. Active area (mm) shall be11x16.5. 4. Read Noise (RMS) shall be less than 30 e- at 500 KHz readout rate and less than 80 e- at 1 MHz readout rate. 5. Pixel well depth 500 ke- (minimum). 6. Minimum operating temperature shall be -- 45 C. 7. The EBI(e-/pix/s) shall not exceed 0.02 at 15 C. (Maximum). This shall not vary across the CCD by more than 0.002 e-/pixel/sec. Both of these numbers refer to RMS deviation from the average response. 8. Dynamic range shall be16 bits. 9. Unit shall possess response uniformity within 6% (RMS) deviation from the average response of the ICCD in fully binned operation illuminated with uniform white light. 10. Unit shall possess a maximum deviation from a straight line fit to the average response for fully binned operation when illuminated with uniform white light for gain settings of 0, 1, and 2 of 1%. 11. In imaging mode, unit will possess no more than 2 spots involving 3-6 pixels (physical space of 80-170 microns) or 4 spots involving 2-3 pixels (physical space 55-80 microns). In spectroscopic mode, unit will possess 0 columns that vary by more than 15 % from the average response when uniformly illuminated. No column shall contain more than 9 pixel defects. 12. The dark current (e-/pixel/sec) shall not exceed 0.03 e-/pixel/sec at -45 C with a uniformity of 0.2 e-/pixel/sec at -20 C. (Refers to RMS deviation). Intensifier Properties: 1. Photocathode: Trialkalai 2. Spectral range (nm): 180-850 3. Output window: Fiber Optic bundle 4. Gating speed (ns): 5 5. Maximum gate rep rate (KHz): 25 6. Maximum Gain (counts/photoelectron): 1000 7. Phosphor: P43 8. Resolution limit (microns): 35 9. EBI (photoelectons/pixels/sec): 0.02 10. Quantum efficiency shall be greater than 0.1% over this spectral range with minimum peak quantum efficiency of 15 %. 11. The intensifier shall possess 0 glow defects. (0100)
