THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE Synopsis FOR NASTRAN FLOATING SEAT LICENSE SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS NOTICE. This notice serves as the official amendment to the subject synopsis and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to: (1) More clearly describe the Government's need, and (2) Extend the response date. The due date for receipt of responses is extended to April 17, 1998. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. THIS NOTICE, ALONG WITH THE SYNOPSIS POSTED ON MARCH 17, 1998, IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM THAT THE GOVERNMENT BELIEVES TO BE AVAILABLE ONLY FROM MACNEAL-SCHWENDLER CORPORATION. INTERESTED PARTIES MAY SUBMIT, IN WRITING, INFORMATION THAT ESTABLISHES THAT THE ITEM EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IS AVAILABLE FROM ANOTHER SOURCE. In conjunction with the information provided by the March 17th posting, the following clarifications are provided: (1) The Floating NASTRAN Seat License shall be a fully-tested, commercially available product (not a prototype). (2) NASA LeRC has developed and is using existing legacy models which incorporate specialized methodologies developed with MSC's Direct Matrix Abstraction Programming (DMAP). The Floating NASTRAN Seat License is required to fully and accurately execute these legacy models. (3) The "NONLINEAR TRANSIENT RESPONSE" (analytic solution capability number [5] in the March 17th posting) is more accurately described as "NONLINEAR TRANSIENT RESPONSE WITH NONLINEAR ELEMENTS". Responses shall provide information relevant to the synopsis posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on March 17, 1998 and published in the CBD.
