D -- TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES POC Contact Point: Ms. Brenda DuBose, Contract Specialist, (301) 415-6578, Contract Specialist, Sharon Mearse (301) 415-7315 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a modification with Bell Atlantic Federal Systems, Inc., under Contract No. NRC-33-94-197, entitled "Non-Washington Interagency Telecommunications Services (WITS) Local Exchange Carrier Services". This effort will provide for local redundant WITS and Non-WITS services at various NRC and non-NRC locations throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area identified by the General Services Administration as Non-WITS locations. Specifically, the services for Non-WITS locations will support emergency and backup links, as well as all telecommunication services for voice, data, video, and ISDN. Bell Atlantic has provided the current services to the NRC for the past several years and is the only tariffed local exchange carrier who can provide local area telephone switching service and interconnection to other exchange (long distance) carriers.
