-- This synopsis is for information and planning purposes, and does not
constitutean IFB or RFP or commitment by the Government.NAVICP is
anticipating the release of an RFP for future requirements for the
listed system and/or will entertain proposals for a replacement
alternating current generating system. The present IDG used on the S-3
aircraft consists of a Constant Speed Drive(CSD) Sundstrand p/n
709994J and an Alternating Current Generator, Sundstrand p/n 976J93611.
The present IDG was designed to Lockheed procuremenr specification
423532 in 1970 and was qualified in 1972-73. The anticipated effort
should include the manufacture,test and delivery of a replacement
alternating current generating system. The proposed system must meet
fit and function requirements of the current IDG. The successful
offeror for this effort will provide a minimum guaranteed MTBF of 2000
hrs for the improved IDG in the S-3 operational
environment.Prospective offerors must submit evidence substantiating
that each of the listed minimum requirements can be met. Responses
received must contain as a minimum the following essential data: A.
Description of relevant facilities; B. Listing of relevant past
experience with aircraft electrical power generating systems including:
1.A thorough technical understanding of aircraft electrical power
generation systems. 2.Demonstration of extesive experience with
aircraft electrical power generating systems. 3.Extensive manufacturing
and/or repair experience with aircraft electrical power generating
systems. 4.Demonstration of extensive test experience with aircraft
electrical power generating systems. 5.State of the art laboratories
and test facillities suitable for fabrication and testing of these
systems. 6.Effective and well established configuration,manufacturing
and quality control systems.7. A core of trained and certified assembly
and inspection personnel.8.Available facilities and personnel that
could be dedicated to this effort and for possible follow-on repair.
9.Copies of purchase orders and shipping documents to OEM,USAF,USN or
commercial vendor for similar items manufactured /repaired.
10.Brochures/synopsis of company's capabilities. Identify if you are a
non-manufacturing source or the actual manufacturer.11.Identification
of major subvendors,i.e.vendors of forging,casting,exotic material
finishes,heat treating,inspections etc.12. Identification of
differences between similar item and the item you are seeking to
provide.13.Description of Quality Program,OEM quality rating and
Quality Assurance Manual.14. Summary of quality deficiencies
experienced in the past 2 years during manufacture of similar items.
Include data relative to subvendors,actions,resolutions when applicable
and/or previous contract if not within last 2 years. All responsible
firms meeting the minimum qualification requirements may submit a
response to this synopsis. Responses mustbe received within 30 days of
this announcement and should include a copy of configuration
management plan. Responses should be sent to:Naval Inventory Control

implied that the drawings are complete or accurate or that they reflect
