no. 20-2-357-5339. The American University in Cairo recently acquired
260 acres of undeveloped land in New Cairo, away from the congested
downtown area, and seeks to engage a full-service master
planning/architectural firm to develop a Campus Master Plan for
relocation of its primary activities and possibly to serve as architect
for the project. The University welcomes statements of qualifications
and interest from firms with significant expertise in the design of
master plans for higher education. Experience in similar projects in
Egypt or the Middle East is particularly desirable. AUC is a
comprehensive liberal arts university and was established in Egypt in
1919. It is chartered and accredited in the United States. The future
campus of the University will provide full educational and support
facilities for 5,500 full-time equivalent students, as well as
provisions for future expansion. Summary and detailed facilities
programs are currently being prepared. It is a requirement in Egypt
that any foreign consulting firm wishing to work in the country be
associated with a qualified local firm. International experience in
such working relationships should be clearly identified and described.
An important element in the consultant selection process is a firm's
knowledge and experience in executing projects in the Middle East. Upon
evaluation of replies to this RFQ a limited number of firms will be
asked to respond to a detailed request for a proposal. Interested firms
should respond by submitting detailed responses to the following
qualif~ication criteria: General description/location of Firm;
Personnel by discipline of Firm; Description of joint-venture partners
(if any) required by Firm for this project; Combined personnel by
discipline of Firm and joint-venture partners; Profile of Firm's
experience in the last 5 years; International experience of Firm,
preferably in the Middle East; Summary profile of Firm experience
relevant to the AUC project (10 max.) including project start and
completion dates, role and extent of Firm'sinvolvement, total project
cost and owner's name and address; brief resumes of key persons
anticipated for the AUC project (5 max.) Additional information
outlining unique qualifications relevant to the project may also be
submitted. The deadline for submitting responses to this RFQ is May 15,
