1ST DISTRICT NEVADA CONGRESSMAN JOHN ENSIGN FEDERAL PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE MAY 4, 1998 On 4 May 1998, Congressman John Ensign will sponsor in cooperation with the Nevada Procurement Outreach Program a Government procurement conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Registration will begin at 8:00 A.M. at the Nellis Air Force Base Officers' Club. In addition to Congressman Ensign, distinguished speakers include Rear Admiral Richard Ginman the Deputy for Acquisition and Business Management for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition), Mr. Bruce Jacobs and Ms. Aimee Allison of the west coast ECRC, Mr. Roger Tokarz, Director of the Nevada Procurement Outreach Program, Colonel (S) Gary Dilk, Commander, 99th Contracting Squadron, Nellis AFB and Mr. George Salton, Director of Contract Operations and the Small Business Specialist at Nellis AFB. Emphasis will be Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) and breaking into the government market, specifically with the Department of Defense. Prime contractors, Federal and State Government agencies,the Small Business Administration, the Fallon Naval Air Base Contracting Directorate, the Nevada Small Business Development Center, and the state of Nevada Business and Industry Agency will be included in the program. Topics that will be discussed during the conference are: Service, Construction and Environmental Contracting: Doing business with State buying activities; Business Issues (marketing plans, accounting, computers, etc.); Value Added Networks (VANS); and Specialized Procurement Issues just to name a few.
