Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Devices Radiological Health
(CDRH) intends to award a purchase order for 12 x-ray monitors
equivalent to the Radcal Corporation's Model 1015 FBH with ionization
chambers 10X5-6L and 10X5-180 and six of each type of additional
ionization chambers. The monitors must be able to measure exposure,
exposure rate, exposure integrated over a single pulse of radiation of
one (1) msec or greater, and the duration of the pulse. The monitors
shall be equipped with one ionization chamber which shall be compatible
with the CDRH test stand and shall have an active volume not greater
than 8 cc. This chamber shall have a measurement range of one (1)
mR/min to 650 mR/min and energy dependence of less than 7% from the
NIST M30 standard beam (HVL = 0.36 mm of Alumimum) to the NIST H150
beam (HVL = 17 mm of Aluminum). A second ionization chamber shall have
an active volume with a cross-sectional area of 100 square
centimeters. This chamber shall have a measurement range of one (1)
mR/hr to 650mR/hr and energy dependence of less than 10% from the NIST
M50 beam (HVL = 1.02 mm of Alumium) to the NIST H150 beam. The
calibration accuracy for both chambers shall be +/- 5% or better. The
monitors and chambers shall be contained within a case no larger than
8 by 10 by 12 inches and not to exceed 15 pounds. The monitors shall
have a digital display and shall be powered by standard alkaline
batteries. The batteries shall have a minimum lifetime of 750 hours of
operation. Written quotations are due by 2:00 p.m. 4/30/98. (0104) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0257 19980416\66-0010.SOL)
