This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: When responding to this
announcement, respondents should refer to EDIJT498. The Social Security
Administration (SSA) is seeking a commercial off-the-shelf software
product(s) that can convert American National Standards Institute
(ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 Electronic Data
Interchange (EDI) transactions into human readable electronic format
for review in its field offices (FO). SSA is currently operating a
pilot of receiving ASCX12811 invoice transactions for telephone bills
and translating them into accounting transaction with the Mainframe

adjustments, and electronically confirm the bill. All electronic
transactions shall use SSA's existing infrastructure. SSA uses the
Sterling Commerce Connect:Direct software for file transfer between
Mainframe platforms and NT servers. The SSA-FO WAN/LAN topology
consists of Pentium Desktop PC's operating the Microsoft Office Suite,
including Internet Explorer for Intranet Access and NetSoft's NS Elite
3270 for Mainframe access. Any responsible firm that feels it has the
capability to provide a software product that meets the requirements as
stated herein may respond to this RFI. Respondents should provide
details, clearly stating the ability to provide such a product and
submit technical literature substantiating that the product meets all
