COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 16,1998 PSA#2075U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Contracts, Attn: Linda
Wise MS-T-7I2, Washington, D.C. 20555 A -- PUMA INTEGRAL TEST FACILITY SOL RES-98-045 DUE 053098 POC
Contact: Sharlene Mc Cubbin, Contract Specialist, 301-415-6565, Mary H.
Mace, Contracting Officer (301)415-7314 17. The Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) intends to award a sole source contract to Purdue
University using the existing PUMA test facility located at their site
to perform testing and data collection for developing models and
assessing NRC's Thermal Hydraulic Computer Codes (such as TRAC/PWR,
TRAC/BWR, RELAP5). The NRC anticipates 50 tests to be performed in the
base contract (7 months) and 80 tests to be performed throughout the
4 option years. In addition to maintaining the facility, the principal
objective is to provide separate-effects and integral-effects test
data for phenomena understanding and code assessment, and use that data
to improve models and correlations in the codes. This contract will
provide the unique services of an experienced organization to conduct
a testing program developed and controlled by NRC. Using the PUMA test
facility provides the benefit of an already designed and built
facility that the Federal government owns. The period of performance is
for 7 months and 4 one-year options. Standard Industrial classification
code 8999 applies. This is a notice of intent to contract only. A
solicitation document does not exist. Telephonic responses and
responses providing insufficient information for evaluation will not be
considered. See Note 22.***** (0104) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0001 19980416\A-0001.SOL)
