G -- CONCESSION CONTRACT SOL CC-GATE016-98 DUE 071398 POC Lynne Koser, (617) 223-5209 The National Park Service is seeking a concessioner to develop and operate a recreational vehicle park and campground facility at Floyd Bennett Field, Gateway National Recreation Area, Brooklyn, New York. Floyd Bennett Field is a former aviation field comprised of 1,450 acres of mixed woods and grasslands, with a concrete runway grid; hangar complexes, and numerous administrative buildings. The proposed site for development of the recreational vehicle (RV) park and campground facilities consists of 50 to 60 acres of land. The site plan provides for 217 RV campsites, 103 camping cabins, and 25 tent and/or tent platform sites. Campground community facilities and services will include a check-in, recreation/game room building, snack bar, retail store for campers, pump-out/dumping station, rest rooms and showers, laundry, children's playground, picnic tables, charcoal/fire pits, group kitchen facilities, and a separate group camping facility. Other revenue producing activities that may be proposed by offerors include small boat rentals, RV rentals and storage, bus tours of the park and other New York area visitor attractions, and bus shuttle service between the RV campground and local airports. The term of the proposed concession contract is expected to be fifteen (15) years. Preliminary cost estimates for the development are approximately $8 million. This includes demolition and site preparation, site work, site structures, landscape improvements, utilities, and site accessories. The concessioner will be required to pay the National Park Service a franchise fee of two percent of the annual gross receipts. The cost for each prospectus is $50.00. Checks or money orders, made payable to the National Park Service, should be sent to theabove address. There is no existing concessioner. The Secretary will consider and evaluate all proposals received as a result of this notice. Any proposal must be received by the National Park Service no later than July 13, 1998 to be considered and evaluated. (0104)
