COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 17,1998 PSA#2076National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSAS, 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/Room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- MOLECULAR IMAGER PC SYSTERM SOL RFQ-80124-NV DUE 050598 POC
Debbie Moore, Purchasing Agent 301-402-4509, Todd Cole, Contracting
Officer, 301-402-4509 The National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to
procure a Model GS-505 Molecular Imager PC System from Bio-Rad
Laboratories, Molecular Biosciences Group, 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive,
Hercules, CA 94547 for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders
and Stroke (NINDS). The study of receptor regulations requires accurate
quantification of the amounts of radioactively labeled proteins as well
as of chemiluminescent signals produced in the immunobotting and
ribonuclease protections assays. The imager has three different
scanning resolutions combined with non-destructive image merging for
increased scanning speeds. Low, medium and high resolution scanning
allows images to be displayed rapidly at low resolution. The screen can
be rescanned at a higher resolution and the scans merged to yield a
higher resolution image with no loss of data. The high resolution and
dynamic range and should be at least 2000 pixels square with a dynamic
range higher than 4 order of magnitude, with a pulse laser scanning to
reduce image smearing. The imager must be capable of quantifying both
radioactivity from all radioisotopes and chemiluminescence from
different sources. The imager shall be directly driven by an external
personal computer. The imager shall be capable of being operated by
multiple users and be efficiently controlled by a computer that has
integrated software that allows quantitative analysis of the data and
is compatible with both PC and Macintosh computers and allows data
analysis off line. Due to space imitations the dimensions are not to
exceed 11 X 25 X 22. It is the Government's belief that these
requirements can only be met by Bio-Rad Life Sciences. This is a notice
of intent not a request for competitive proposals, however, if an
interested party believes they have a instrument that meets the above
specifications, they may submit a capability statement To Debbie Moore,
6120 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, MD 20892-7227 by no later than May
5, 1998, 2:00PM EST. Information must be in writing and must contain
material in sufficient detail to allow NINDS to determine if the party
can perform the requirement. A determination by the Government not to
compete this procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely
within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
competitive procurement. (0105) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0281 19980417\66-0003.SOL)
