Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. This is a small business set
aside. The SIC code is 7229. The size standard is 750. The National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate on
a sole source basis with URG Corporation, 116 S. Merritt Mill Road,
Chapel Hill, NC 27516 for 1 ea URG-2000-22 ABB-37-1-MOD 37 mm Filter
Pack to include 1 ea Gasket set URG-2000-37FF and 1 ea Stainless Steel
Screen. URG Corporation filter packs and gasket sets for 37 mm
diameter quartz-fiber filters is required for their unique design that
fits the NIST specific need for the production of a Particle Filter
Standard Reference Material. URG's unique filter pack design includes
the ability to size-segregate (remove) large (greater than 2.5
micrometer diameter) unwanted particles from collection on the filter
substrate. The filter pack contains the filter between two removable
gaskets within the assembly; a configuration which allows for weighing
the filter without touching the filter thus avoiding any bias in the
gravimetric analysis. The filter packs are reusable with the same
integrity as the first-time use. The design is compatible with the SRI
International Dust Generation and Collection System that will be used
to produce the SRM (Baron, 1987; SRI Report, 1983; Klouda et al.,
1996). URG Corporation is the only known source that has these
capabilities. These requirements are important in meeting the design
criteria for the production of the SRM 2784. The UG filter pack
assembly will maintain the necessary continuity of this multi-year
Standard Reference Material Program (SRMP) leading up to the production
of a particle filter SRM that is based on results of a previously
evaluated particle filter material using the SRI system. The required
delivery is within 30 days after contract award, FOB Destination
Gaithersburg, MD. Requests for a copy of a solicitation package will be
disregarded. No solicitation package will be issued. The Government
will verbally request a written quotation from URG Corporation. The
Contractor must be able to meet allthe requirements stated herein. The
anticipated award date of the contract is on or around June 1, 1998.
