COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 17,1998 PSA#207670 -- NOTICE OF INTENT The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends
to negotiate a sole-source purchase order under the Simplified
Acquisition Procedures to Mainstar Software Corporation, 12011 NE 1st
Street, Bellevue, WA 98005-3182 for the acquisition of an "add-on"
support product to work in conjunction with Aggregate Backup and
Recovery Services (ABARS) to support data identification, data backup
and data movement for three major initiatives: Year 2000 test, Backup
and Recovery Contingency Processing and the establishment of various
LPAR test facilities. The following is a list of the ABARS critical
requirements that will meet SSA's minimum needs as follows: 1) supports
incremental backup of ABARS aggregates; 2) provides aggregate backup
balancing; 3) allows recovery of individual dataset by providing an
easy interactive method; 4) provides extended dataset rename; 5) ABARS
activity monitor to associate started task to aggregate being backed
up; 6) no exits required for implementation; 7) provides an inventory
database of ABARS aggregates; and 8) provides secondary user panels.
Mainstar Software Corporation's Recovery Solutions Software (RS) (also
called ABARS Manager/ASAP) is the only known software product that
meets all of SSA's minimum requirements as stated herein. Any
responsible firm that believes it has the capability to provide an
equivalent software product shall provide a quotation, and technical
literature substantiating that the offered product meets all of the
aforementioned requirements, to SSA no later than 10 calendar days
after the issue date of this announcement. When responding to this
