COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 17,1998 PSA#2076NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A CONTRACT TO THE SKAGIT SYSTEMS COOPERATIVE
TO CONDUCT A STUDY/FLOWS AND SEDIMENT IN THE SKAGIT RIVER BASIN.
Notice of intent to award a contract to the Skagit System Cooperative
to conduct study of flows and sediment and scour parameters in the
Skagit River Basin and their influence on Chinook salmon egg to fry
survival. Study will investigate the flow, sediment and scouring
relationships and the resulting Chinook egg to migrant fry survival in
the four major hydro regions in the Skagit drainage. Study will
involve deploying flow gauges at four sites (four hydrologic regions)
in the Skagit River drainage. Whitlock-Vibert egg boxes filled with
washed gravel will be used to monitor sediment intrusion. Whiffle-ball
type scour monitors will be deployed to measure the rate of gravel
depth change. Notice being posted to satisfy FAR Part 5 requirements.
No other known sources available to complete the study as
cost-effectively as the Skagit System Cooperative. Questions concerning
SOL WASC 8-1076 may be directed to Randall Brown at 206-526-6226 or fax
