Z -- MAINTENANCE DREDGING, 40-FOOT PROJECT, ENTRANCE CHANNEL AND TURNING BASIN, MANATEE HARBOR, FLORIDA SOL DACW17-98-B-0012 DUE 061698 POC Contract Specialist Robert Mosteller (904) 232-3739 (Site Code DACW17) The project work includes a Base Bid, an Option A Bid and Option B Bid. The Base Bid consists of dredging approximately 164,000 cubic yards of shoal material from the Entrance Channel (Channel Widener and Main Channel) and the federal portion of the Turning Basin between Station 173+79.23 and Station 15+97.16 to a required depth of 40 feet m.l.w. with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. The Option A consists of dredging approximately 76,000 cubic yards of shoal material to required depth of 40 feet m.l.w. with 1 foot of allowable overdepth from the following: the non-federal portion of the Turning Basin between Station 15+97.16 and Station 0+00; the areas between berthing areas 5 & 6 and berthing areas 10 & 11 to within 30 feet of the bulkhead; and berthing areas 6,7,8,9,10 and 11 to within 15 feet of the bulkhead. The Option A Bid quantity also includes removal of shoal material from the North Berthing Area 5 to a required depth of 20 feet m.l.w. with 2 feet of allowable overdepth. The Option B Bidconsists of dredging approximately 35,000 cubic yards of shoal material by clam shell from within set limits from the face of docks, bulkhead, or other structures including the following: berthing area 5 to a required depth of 20 feet m.l.w. with 2 feet allowable for the first 25 feet adjacent to the bulkhead and berthing areas 6,7,8,9,10 and 11 to a required depth of 40 feet m.l.w. with 2 foot allowable overdepth for the first 15 feet adjacent to the bulkhead. The dredging for Option B may only be done with Clam Shell Dredge. The Base, Option A and Option B Bid include a total of approximately 275,000 cubic yards of dredge material. The material in the Entrance Channel and the Turning Basin can only be dredged with a hydraulic type dredge. The material with in the set limits from the face of docks, bulkheads, or other structures can only be dredged with a clam bucket type dredge. All dredged material shall be placed in the Port Manatee Upland Disposal Area located approximately 8,000 feet from the North Berthing Area. However, dredge material transport shall not exceed a maximum of 25,200 feet. Work will also include Mobilization and Demobilization in addition to Turbidity and Endangered Species Monitoring. Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000. and $5,000,000. Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or about 10 Apr 98. Invitation DACW17-98-B-0012 will be issued on or about 01 May 98 and opened on or about 16 Jun 98. Cost of Plans and Specifications is $40.00.
