(AURA) is seeking qualified vendors to submit proposals to provide and install telephone systems for the Gemini 8m Telescopes Project. The telephone systems will be for the two Gemini North sites in Hawaii: the base facility in Hilo and the observatory on the summit of Mauna Kea. These systems will communicate over Gemini's internal network, to other observatory headquarters located in Hilo, to Gemini South in Chile, and to the public telephone system. A more specific description of the system requirements will be given in the request for proposal when it is issued. The Gemini 8m Telescopes Project is an international collaboration to build two 8 meter telescopes, one to be located on Mauna Kea in Hawaii, the other to be located on Cerro Pachon in Chile. The Gemini project partners include the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Argentina, Brazil and Chile. The Gemini project is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA) under contract to the National Science Foundation.
