Research Center is hereby soliciting information for potential sources
for a film scanner. The scanner must: (1) be capable of being operated
via computer with the ability to save images to external storage
devices directly or via the network (2) scan sheet film in sizes: 35mm,
70mm, 6X4.5cm, 6X7 cm, 6X9cm, 4X5 in. (3) scan images from long roll
film in sizes including: 16mm, 35mm, 70mm (4) handle long roll film in
lengths of at least 800 feet. (5) provide a minimum optical scanning
resolution capability of: 16mm 4000 pixels per inch 35mm 4000 pixels
per inch 70mm 1600 pixels per inch 6X4.5cm 1800 pixels per inch 6X7 cm
1800 pixels per inch 6X9cm 1600 pixels per inch 4X5 in. 1000 pixels
per inch (6) scan color negatives, color positives, B/W negatives, B/W
positives (7) be capable of scanning at resolutions lower than the
minimum scanning resolution capability (8) open film gates must tension
film to a flatness of +/- 0.005 inch (9) provide automatic focus (10)
be capable of changing film formats in less than 10 minutes (11)
provide full resolution scans in under 5 minutes (12) have a dynamic
range of at least 2.7 above the film D-min The scanner is to be
delivered to NASA's Photo Lab where site setup and training shall be
performed by the provider. Interested offerors/vendors able to meet the
above requirements should submit specifications/data sheets, host
platform requirements, pricing, and delivery times. Technical questions

r.l.hoff@larc.nasa.gov. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not
request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released, it
will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet
Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these
cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. The Standard
Industrial Classification (SIC) code is 3861 with a size standard of
500 employees. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes
and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will
the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be
notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully
qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the
requirement. The Government reserves the right to consider a small
business or 8(a) set-aside based on responses hereto. All responses
shall be submitted to NASA Langley Research Center, Mail Stop 144,
Industry Assistance Office, Hampton, VA 23681 no later April 20, 1998.
