The U.S. EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL), Water Supply and Water Resources Division (WSWRD) is looking for qualified waterborne disease professionals who can address and solve engineering, microbiological and chemical problems associated with a waterborne disease outbreak. The EPA is interested in addressing the health scientific and technical drinking water issues associated with the outbreak of a waterborne disease. The need for rapid response by qualified professionals is essential to define, contain and remediate the outbreak. To supplement Federal efforts, EPA is interested in identifying drinking water specialists who are also experts in dealing with waterborne disease outbreaks. In addition to the technical expertise, identified individuals must also be available to travel to the trouble spot within 24 hours notice and spend up to one week on site. EPA intends to pre-qualify interested waterborne disease professionals to facilitate the requirement for rapid response. If a waterborne disease outbreak occurs, a purchase order will by issued under simplified acquisition procedures. Selection for the purchase order award will be based on technical expertise and the ability to respond to the outbreak area within 24 hours notice.
