NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for replacement and on-site installation of a plasma tube for an innova 100 argon-ion laser:20 watts optical power in all-lines operation. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Coherent Laser Company on a sole source basis. The plasma tude is a direct replacement for a broken plasma tube in an existing innova 100 argon-ion laser originally manufactured by Coherent Laser Company. Coherent Laser Company has unique proprietary designs for their plasma tube resonator cavity and electrical power system. Therefore, parts are not interchangeable between systems manufactured by various companies. See Note 22. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
