FRAMES, PC205 OR EQUAL 1. The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP)
is researching the optical industry's capability to produce the
following spectacle frames: SPECTACLE FRAMES, PC205 OR EQUIVALENT, 2
COLORS (FLAT BLACK (NON-GLARE) AND BROWN); 4 EYE SIZES (48MM, 50MM,
52MM AND 54MM); KEYHOLE BRIDGE IN 2 SIZES (18MM AND 20MM); 3 SKULL
TEMPLES (135MM, 140MM AND 145MM); 1-SIZE COMFORT CABLE TEMPLE (160MM).
ALL TEMPLES WITH A 5 BARREL HINGE. ALL EYE SIZES WILL ALSO BE
AVAILABLE WITH ADJUSTABLE SILICONE NOSE PADS. ALL STANDARD FRONTS SHALL
BE AVAILABLE ASSEMBLED WITH 140MM AND 145MM TEMPLES. IT IS REQUESTED
THAT THE B MEASUREMENT OF THE REQUIRED FRAME BE REDUCED APPROXIMATELY
2MM FROM THAT OF THE PC205. THE FRAME MUST MEET SAFETY STANDARDS AS SET
FORTH IN ANSI STANDARDS Z87.1 DATED 1995 OR UPDATED PUBLICATIONS.
ALTHOUGH THE SUBJECT FRAME MUST MEET REQUIRED STANDARDS, IT SHALL NOT
BE MARKED AS SUCH. 2. Each offeror shall provide a minimum of seven (7)
frames. a) A minimum of two (2) of the submitted frames shall be
evaluated for color. A minimum of one (1) frame shall be flat black
(non-glare) in color and at least one (1) frame shall be brown in
color. These frames may be of commercial design and not in accordance
with the design and specifications (shape, size, etc.) cited above.
They will be evaluated for color only. We require that the frames you
submit for color evaluation be manufactured using the same method you
would expect to use, i.e., injection mold or sheet stamped, for mass
production. b) A minimum of five (5) of the submitted frames shall be
evaluated in accordance with the design specifications cited above
(shape, size, barrel hinge, etc.). The color of these frames shall not
be evaluated. These frames will be evaluated strictly utilizing
dimensional analysis. The offeror shall identify the material(s)
utilized and the process employed (injection mold or sheet stamped). 3.
Samples shall be delivered to: NOSTRA, ATTN: Mr. Bill Wishmeyer, PO BOX
350, Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA 23691-0350. 4. The outside of
the package shall be marked: "RFI for PC205." 5. Samples must be
received at the above address by July 1, 1998. 6. None of the samples
will be returned. All costs incurred as a result of this effort are to
