NAVY SMALL BUSINESS PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE The 10th annual Navy Gold Coast Small Business Procurement Opportunity Conference will be held on May 21, 1998 at the Holiday Inn Ventura Beach Resort Hotel. The conference host is the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, California. It is cosponsored by the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake/Point Mugu and the Port Hueneme Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center. The conference will run from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Representatives of major DOD, Federal, Civilian Agency and Prime Contractors buying activities will be brought together with business concerns interested in selling their products and services to the Government and prime contractors. Special speakers will be Mr. Don Hathaway, Director, Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Office of the Secretary of the Navy and Ms. Sherrye Henry, SBA Assistant Administrator, Office of Women's Business Ownership. In addition to individual counseling and the guest speakers, the Department of Defense Western Regionalcouncil for Small Business Education and Advocacy will conduct training seminars during the conference which are designed to aid firms in conducting business with the Government. Seminars include the subject "Current Practices to Win Federal Contracts Using Electronic Commerce", "Government Bank Card Program"; and "Subcontract Perspectives". Seminar speakers will be from various military buying activities and from large corporations which have subcontracting opportunities.
