Z -- REROOF BLDG. 3 AND 4 TUNNELS SOL 659-20-98 DUE 052998 POC Colette LeBleu Regan The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is in the process of negotiating a construction/renovation contract with the Small Business Administration under the 8(a) program. The construction cost estimate is between $250,000.00 to $500,000.00. All prospective subcontractors to the SBA 8(a) contractor who are interested in acquiring the solicitation documents, may request them by writing to the Contracting Officer. The requests may be facsimiled to (704) 638-3495. Only 50 sets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only one set of documents shall be available and all subbids will have to be presented to the 8(a) contractor. The 8(a) contractor has not been selected by the SBA at this time..The contract includes but is not limited to the following statement of work: Work shall consist of the removal of all existing single ply roofing system, removing flashing containing asbestos materials along perimeter walls, removing flashing around vents, and equipment. Install new tapered insulation, vapor barrier, new copper flashing, roof drains, copper fascia, copper downspouts, and gutters, 4-ply BUR with a cold process fibrated emulsion coating. Remove existing gravity ventilators and curbs, and patch roof slab prior to installing new roof system. Work shall be completed on Building 3 and tunnels from Building 5 to 6, Building 5 to 7, Building 2 to 5 and BUilding 21 in accordance with all specifications and drawings. The SIC code for this procurement is 1761. All solicitation documents will be available on or about April 29, 1998. The initial cost proposal from the SBA 8(A) contractor will be submitted by close of business May 29, 1998.
