(508) 233-6257 (Site Code DAAN02) The U.S. Army Soldier Systems Command
has a requirement for the production of Powered Multi-Fuel Burners for
the U.S. Marine Corps to replace the current M-2 Burner. The
Government anticipates that this acquisition will result in a single
award, utilizing the best value concept, of an Indefinite
Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Firm-Fixed-Price contract with one
base year and three option years. This acquisition will be conducted
as a commercial item buy in accordance with Part 12 of the Federal
Acquisition Regulation and will be conducted on a full and open
competition basis. A First Article Test may be required. The following
minimum/maximum quantities for the burners shall apply: Base year
1000/10,000; First Option year 1000/10,000; Second Option year
1000/10,000; Third option year 1000/10,000. In accordance with FAR
Subpart 5.102 (7), the Request for Proposal (RFP) DAAN02-98-R-0017, and
any subsequent amendments, will only be available at the following
world wide web address: http://www-sscom.army.mil. The RFP will be
available on or about 5 May 1998. Proposals, to include four
(4)production units, will be due 30 days from the date the RFP is
posted to the world wide web. Firms will not be reimbursed for any
costs associated with proposal preparation or the production units,
which will be returned "as is" after evaluation, upon request. In
accordance with FAR Subpart15.201 potential offerors are encouraged to
