MANAGEMENT SYSTEM -- MAINTENANCE SERVICES The Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) will be requesting proposals to maintain
the I-95 Traffic and Incident Management System (I-95 TIMS) located
along the section of I-95 traversing the metropolitan Philadelphia
area. The traffic control center (TCC) is located adjacent to the
PennDOT 6-0 building at St. Davids, PA. The maintenance services will
include, but not limited to preventive maintenance, response
maintenance, and emergency repairs. It is anticipated that the duration
of the maintenance services will be for at least 24 months. The I-95
TIMS consists of 12 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, four
variable message signs (VMS), TCC, and T-1 and dial-up telephone lines
leased from the local telephone company. A typical remote CCTV camera
location includes a pole-mounted or sign structure-mounted camera
assembly and a ground-mounted camera control cabinet that houses CCTV,
communication, and electricalequipment. The VMS system includes two
clustered light-emitting diode (LED) and two fiber optic technology
based signs. The signs are mounted on overhead structures and the VMS
control cabinets are ground-mounted adjacent to the sign structures.
The TCC consists of two rooms -- Room 1 housing operator workstations
for CCTV, VMS, and communications systems and Room 2 housing
communications equipment enclosures, uninterrupted power system, and
electrical and telephone termination equipment. Information for
preparing bids is expected to be available in April 1998 for Spring
