E-MAIL: Michael T. Stubbs, M.T.STUBBS@larc.nasa.gov. NASA Langley Research Center plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for the 14 X 22 Tunnel Cart Number 2 Bearing Assembly. The scope of work for this procurement consists of designing, fabricating, and delivering a Ball Bearing Assembly for the 14 X 22 Tunnel Model Cart Number 2. The contractor shall be responsible for providing all tools, materials, and labor, to provide a complete and finished product. The bearing is approximately 1.5 inches high, 8.5 inches wide, and has a diameter of 186.25 inches. Loading requirements will be approximately 87 KIPS axial, 40 KIPS radial and 129 KIP-FT moment. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 3568 and 500 employees respectively, The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ 1-141-GGI.2089 is on or about April 30, 1998, with an anticipated quote due date of on or about June 12, 1998. All qualified responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B".
