In the absence of other qualified sources, it is the intent of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to acquire and have installed a satellite ground station receive only antenna for use with geostationary spacecraft from Vertex Communications Corp., 2600 N. Longview Street, Kilgore, TX 75662. The following are the Government's minimum technical specifications: The antenna system is required to survive 200 mph wind gusts while in any direction and must be equipped with a system to automatically keep the antenna dish free of ice and snow down to ambient temperatures of -30 degrees Centigrade. The antenna shall consist of a parabolic shaped reflector surface not-to- exceed 6.5 meters in diameter, a feed system, and a support structure or mount with motor drives and a remote controller for indicating and automatically controlling antenna pointing in both programmed track and step track modes. The antenna shall receive in the band of 1674 to 1695 MHz with a minimum gain of 36 dBi. The antenna shall be capable of receiving linear polarization simultaneously in two separate orthogonal directions. The feed system shall be adjustable so the angle of the polarization can be rotated to match that of the received signal. The feed shall be equipped to allow remote control and indication of polarization angle. This acquisition is a commercial item acquisition. Interested concerns must submit a written qualification statement that clearly establishes the firm's capability to meet the above requirements. This qualification statement shall submitted to the individual and office cited above within 15 days from the date this synopsis is posted on the internet. This is not a formal solicitation.
