Olsen, Contracting Officer The Western Area Power Administration of the Department of Energy has a requirement for VHF wide area trunked mobile ratio communication equipment. The mobile radio system will provide transparent trunked mobile radio voice and data communications throughout Western's 15-state coverage area with minimal user intervention. Equipment includes: VHF mobile radios, repeaters, other equipment and software, e.g., extended network controller hardware/software, wide area controller hardware/software, dispatch console hardware/software, system manager computer and system manager computer software, and pagers. Other requirements include training and installation/engineering services. The Government intends to negotiate a requirements-type contract, for a base period plus additional option year periods of up to five years. It is anticipated that one award will result from this solicitation. The Request for Proposals will be issued o/a May 28, 1998. This acquisition will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12—Acquisition of Commercial Items.
