The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Talley Defense Systems, Inc., 4551 E. McKellips Road, P. O. Box 489, Mesa, AZ 85211-0849, for a follow-on contract for Concept Demonstration of the contractor's approach for the application of a nested countermass propulsion system for the U. S. Marine Corps Shoulder Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW). This is a follow-on to NSWCDD contract N00178-97-C-1068 that was awarded based on a Broad Agency Announcement. The objective of the contract is to demonstrate a fire from enclosure capability of the SMAW system. Note 22 applies.
