The Office of Minority Health, (OMH) through the Program Support Center, General Acquisition Branch, intends to award a 6 month sole source Simplified Acquisition to The Center for the Study of Latino Health, UCLA School Of Medicine.The contractor will develop a one-quarter (ten weeks) pre-health professional academic level course on the health status of Latinos in California. Course topics will cover: immigration and health; demographic projections; socioeconomic profiles; causes of death; birth outcomes; reportable diseases; hospital and service utilization HIV/AIDS; teen pregnancy; youth violence; substance abuse; the elderly; Aztec medicine; the Chicano health movement; and health policy (welfare reform, Medicaid managed care, etc.). This includes a course and catalog description, lecture schedules, reading list. Provide transcribed lecture notes for each course topic, sufficient for a three-hour lecture. Data charts, graphs and visual materials for use in each course topic. Methods to provide technical assistance and consultation to instructors who wish to establish such courses . Provide Electronic file copy of distribution mailing lists for ethnic studies and health science programs at the University of California system, state and community colleges.
