COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 24,1998 PSA#2081ACC Contracting Squadron, 227 Hunting Ave., Suite 301, Langley AFB, VA
23665-2771 K -- MODIFICATION OF A L-88A RADAR SOL NA DUE 060298 POC Vicki
Wilkinson, Contract Manager, 757-764-4786 or Richard Cannella,
Contracting Officer, 757-764-7583 E-MAIL: ACC CONS Langley AFB,
Vicki.wilkinson@langley.af.mil. The Air Force is conducting market
research to find a source to replace the AN/DPS-5 radar system located
at Cudjoe Key FL with a L-88A radar and a TPS-63 antenna. The current
L-88A radar and TPS-63 antenna are too heavy and too large to be
accommodated within the design parameters of a 275K aerostat and its'
windscreen and still maintain the area of surveillance coverage. The
proposed system must be modified to operate within the 275K aerostat
design parameters and not alter the airborne characteristics of the
aerostat. The modified system cannot exceed a weight of 1,400 pounds,
must meet or exceed the capabilities of an AN/DPS-5 radar system, and
the modified system must flawlessly interface with the current ground
station and support equipment currently located at Cudjoe Key FL. The
modified system must be ready and available for final testing no later
than 31 March 1999. (0112) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0050 19980424\K-0001.SOL)
