DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR ELECTRONIC COMMERCE This is a general announcement. The Department of the Interior (DOI) announces the release of its IDEAS Business Opportunities electronic commerce program. DOI has established a web site for vendors to electronically view requests for quotations (RFQ), submit quotes, and view award data over the Internet. Vendors will be able to access DOI Business Opportunities on May 4, 1998, at http://ideasec.er.usgs.gov. The Internet site is part of DOI's long term goal to end use of the Federal Acquisition Computer Network (FACNET). Only vendors with a valid Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number will be authorized to submit quotes on posted RFQs. (Vendors that require a DUNS number can contact Dun & Bradstreet at http://www.dbisna.com/aboutdb/whyduns.htm or call 1-800-333-0505.) Search features are available on the IDEAS Business Opportunities web site by using some or all of the following options: the issue date, closing date, Product and Service Code (PSC), Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code, or DUNS number. The site has been written using HTML 4.0 extensions, which are not supported by all browsers. For best results it is recommended that vendors use the latest version of either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator downloadable from the Internet at WWW.Microsoft.Com and Home.Netscape.Com.
