TAPE AUTOCHANGER & SUPPORTING COMPONENTS This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented, with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Therefore, this synopsis shall serve as a request for quotation, numbered F41621-98-Q-5002 which seeks quotations based on the information contained in this synopsis. This synopsis and incorporated provisions/clauses are in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46. The standard industrial classification (SIC) is 7374. The small business size standard is 14.5 million. It is the Government's intent to award as a sole source under the authority of FAR 6.302 to Cybernetics of Yorktown VA. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or to submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within fifteen days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is the Government's intent to purchase the following: Tape Autochangers with the following specifications: a data transfer rate of at least 3 MB per second/at least doubled with data compression; data capacity of at least 25 GB/at least 100 GB with data compression; and media reuse of at least 25,000 times. Additional components are as follows: 2 ea/Tape Autochanger Chassis, 3 ea/8mm Tape drive w/cable, documentation and 24 month warranty, 2 ea/additional 8mm Tape drive, 3 ea/Hardware data compression enabling up to 125GB/tape, 2 ea/Advanced SCSI Processor supporting mirroring, offling copy, verify, striping, and more, 2 ea/Spare data cartridge holder (optional), 201 ea/25GB 8mm Tape, 10 ea/Tape path cleaner. Delivery required: FOB Destination to HQ/AFWIC/SC, 102 Hall Blvd., Ste 321 (Bldg 2000), San Antonio, TX 78243-7018. This acquisition will be processed the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Responses to this notice will be considered for award to responsible offeror submitting the lowest overall cost to the Government.
