A negotiated procurement contract in which the selected contractor shall provide complete coordination of all necessary construction services. The scope of this project requires all construction activities necessary to replace the existing roof, including removal of the existing roof system of the Harold Washington Social Security Center. The work includes, but is not strictly limited to, all labor, material, and equipment necessary to remove and replace the roofing system at the Harold Washington Social Security Center. The roofing contractor will completely remove and dispose of the existing built-up asphalt roofing system, including insulation, flashing, roof drains, and other related accessories. The Contractor will prepare the roof deck to accept new roofing system, including the rebuilding of parapets, installing new curbs, and making necessary roof penetrations. Contractor will install a new coal tar pitch build-up roofing system, including tapered rigid insulation, flashing, walkway pads, metalwalkway grating, and stairs and pipe crossover bridges. Contractor will be required to use a fume recovery system to control on-site odor. The scope of work includes the following trades: Roofers, Sheet Metal Workers, Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians, and Painters. The estimated construction cost is $500,000 to $1,000,000. The estimated construction period for this project is 75 calendar days. Funding is currently available. This solicitation is open to small business concerns only. A small business concern is defined as having no more than 500 employees or an overall annual gross revenue of $17,000,000 for the last 3 years. Closing date of submittal offers is 06/05/98. Price will be the only factor upon which proposals are compared to each other, and price will be the sole basis for the decision. The RFP will be available on or after 05/06/98.
