L. Westman, Maria.L.Westman.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to issue
a Request for Quote (RFQ) for two (2) each temperature tunable single
solid cleartran (ZNS) etalons and two (2) each temperature tunable
single clearceram etalons. All etalon types shall meet the following
specifications: usable clear aperture: 35mm; center wavelength (normal
incidence): 532.213NM +/-0.005NM (vacuum wavelength); free spectral
range: >400PM; transmission at center wavelength (when illuminated
with a 35mm diameter collimated beam): >90%; etalon mount maximum
diameter: 60mm. Specifications specific for the cleartran etalon: FWHM
bandwidth: 25PM +/-3PM; indium tin oxide coating; center wavelength at
35 degrees Celcius. Specifications specific for the clearceram etalon:
FWHM bandwidth: 25PM +/-3PM; indium tin oxide coating; center
wavelength at 35 degrees Celcius. A tunable narrow band etalon optical
filter is required for the aerosol lidar receiver of the Geoscience
Laser Altimeter System (GLAS) instrument on the Ice and Cloud Elevation
Satellite (ICESAT) of the Earth Observing System (EOS). The etalon
filter must be manufactured such that the center wavelength matches the
GLAS laser wavelength at the required temperatures (as listed in the
specifications). The etalon should not require a capacitive sensor but
mechanical engineering and rugged construction to insure the etalon
parallelism and controlled gap spacing is maintained. The etalon must
be low weight (less than 600 grams) and rugged (meet MIL-STD-883,
method 2007, Condition A) to meet the space flight and 3 year life time
requirements of the GLAS mission. This procurement is being conducted
under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government
intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. This
procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC
Code and Size Standard are 3829 and 500 employees. The DPAS Rating for
this procurement is DOC9. The anticipated release date of
RFQ924-74402-921 is on or about 05/06/1998 with an anticipated quote
due date of on or about 05/25/1998. A copy of the RFQ package shall be
requested in writing. All qualified responsible sources may submit a
quote which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been
appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The WWW address, or URL of the
