ACQUISITION 58. Notice of Intent to Issue a draft of the WITS2001
Request for Proposals. The National Capital Region (NCR) of the General
Services Administration, Federal Technology Service (FTS) is about to
request proposals for Washington Interagency Telecommunications
Services. A draft Request for Proposals will be released on or about
May 8, 1998. Comments and questions are due May 29, 1998. The resulting
contract scope includes all existing local voice and data
telecommunications services plus those that become commercially
available in the NCR during the life of the contract. The WITS2001
contract is a hybrid services and operations, administration, and
maintenance contract. The contractor will operate, administer, and
maintain Government-owned WITS network assets that currently provide
services to 170,000 WITS line subscribers. The contractor will be
responsible for ensuring that these assets are used in the best
interests of the Government for the provision of local
telecommunications services. The contractor will also be responsible
for providing services via the contractor's owned or leased assets on
an Indefinite Quantity, Indefinite Delivery basis to all Federal
clients in the NCR. GSA intends to work with the contractor to increase
the WITS program's share of the Federal data services market in the

Microsoft Work 6.0 format on GSA's Internet mail address at
http://post.fts2k.gsa.gov/wits2001. The Government will publish all
future documentation on the WITS2001 website only and will not provide
hardcopies or diskettes of the Request for Proposals unless
specifically requested in writing. All bidders list requests should
include company name, point of contact name and title, address,
telephone number, fax number, and Internet E-mail address. Companies
should also provide their DUNS number and business size, according to
the size standard for Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code
4813 -- Telecommunications Services. Comments should be addressed to:
