80303-3328 58 -- ANTENNA POSITIONING SYSTEM SOL 52RANB80C013 POC Clerical Support
Staff: 303.497.3221 The National Institute of Standards & Technology
(NIST), requires a precision 6-axis probe/small antenna positioning
system to be designed, fabricated, installed, and aligned in its
anechoic chamber which is used for probe calibrations. Critical
information: the system shall be capable of manual motion by an
internal control system (i.e. local control) and programmed motion by
commands from a host computer system via an IEEE-488 (GPIB) interface.
Typical position accuracy is on the order of plus/minus 1.0 mm for the
linear axes and plus/minus 0.1 deg for the rotation axes. Payload
limits will be on the order of 4.5 kg for the 6-axis system. The NIST
anechoic chamber consists of a shielded room (8.5 m long, 6.7 m wide,
4.9 m high) filled with 61- and 91-cm RF absorbing material on the
walls, ceiling, and floor. The Contractor shall install the system in
the microwave anechoic chamber at the NIST laboratory in Boulder,
Colorado. The system will be used for precise positioning of small
microwave antennas and probes during calibration. See Numbered Note 1
(100% Small Business Set-Aside). This will be a negotiated procurement.
It is the Government's intent to issue the RFP as soon as possible and
require submission of proposals within 30 days thereafter. A site
visit is likely approximately midway through the solicitation period
and the date will be set in the solicitation. (0114) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0260 19980428\58-0004.SOL)
