NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for an ADS-8301F Flight Rated Version Analog Displacement Sensor Specification Control Drawing No. 961018; Model No. 8301F-0.0002-P16; Sensitivity: 50 Volts/Milli-Radian; Range +/- 200 Micro-Radians. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from BEI Sensors and Systems Co., they are a sole source for these sensors. This is the only sensor on the market that directly measures angular displacement. It is the highest accuracy sensor with broad band capability. Its range is 2-2000HZ and is even correctable below 2HZ. It has a resolution threshold of less than 0.02 microradians (equivalent) over 500HZ. It is a DC-In, DC-Out device which dissipates less than 0.5 watts and has instant-on and self-test capability. It can survive vibration levels above 30G RMS and temperatures from -65 degrees F to +165 degrees F. It can operate between 0 degrees F and +160 degrees F. It will be used to support thermal -- vacuum testing for spacecraft. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 7 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 7 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
