The Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility has a requirement for the casting of 15-pound brass and 30-, 50-, and 75-pound lead sounding weights. These weights are used in deep, swift streams where discharge measurements are made by suspension techniques from bridges, cableways, or boats. The sounding weight is suspended below a current meter to keep it stationary in the water. Detailed drawings and specifications for these weights are available from the U.S. Geological Survey upon request. Requests may be faxed to (228) 688-1577. Companies capable of casting these weights may submit a bid, in writing, for consideration by this agency no later than June 09, 1998. (0114)
