The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Basic Sciences (DBS), Basic Research Laboratory (BRL), intends to negotiate a modification for additional effort and funds to an existing contract (N01-BC-53051) with Advanced BioScience Laboratories, Inc. This contract provides "Support for Research on Retro viral Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention". The project is associated with development of AIDS vaccines using non-human primate models. Support for these studies under the contract mechanism includes, but is not limited to the following: 1) in vitro culture and detection of retroviruses from blood and tissue samples; 2) biochemical and immunologic characterization of retroviruses; and 3) immunologic assessments of immune response following immunization with putative vaccine preparations. The level of effort shall be increased by 1,085 hours to provide for additional support services as outlined above.
