Schwaberow, Contracting Officer, (650) 329-4177 The U.S. Geological Survey, Western Region, Menlo Park, California, intends to place on a sole-source basis, a purchase order with the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho for geologic mapping services due to their knowledge of the geology and their experience in geologic field work in the area to be mapped and because of the history of cooperation and collaboration between the Idaho Geological Survey and the Spokane Field Office of USGS/WMRSP. Geologists in the employment of the Idaho Geological Survey (IGS) have worked with and for USGS field mapping projects in Northern Idaho and have an intimate working knowledge of the data standards expected for USGS projects. From previous projects it is expected that the quality of work produced by IGS is such that overall adminis- tration and work monitoring costs for the project will be minimal relative to other vendors without prior experience with USGS mapping projects.
