Systems Command anticipates a competitive solicitation for NSSN Class
fixed propulsor assemblies, tailcones, and master tooling for the
first and second ship, with options for propulsor assemblies,
tailcones, and additional components for the third and fourth ship in
FY99 and FY 01, respectively, and a spare in FY03. The fixed propulsor
assemblies have a minimum delivery requirement of 32 months. This
procurement will include manufacture of requisite parts, machining, and
assembly of the propulsor. The successful offeror will not be required
to cast and/or machine Nickel-Aluminum-Bronze (NAB) components; these
parts will be provided as Goverment Furnished Material (GFM). The
successful offeror will be required to fabricate and machine assemblies
with large dimensions and small tolerances, using Inconel 625, steel,
and Monel materials. Assembly of the units, including the GFM, will
also be required. Potential offerors are required to possess a
CONFIDENTIAL security clearance, and an appropriate facility security
clearance is required for receipt of the drawing package. A duplication
fee will be assessed for the drawing package associated with this RFP
based upon the number of responses received. Offerors will be notified
of the charge. Solicitation issuance is expected O/A 1 June 1998.
