The National Science Foundation (NSF) has a requirement for comprehensive support services for conferences and meetings sponsored by the NSF. The specific task areas include (1) site selection and reservation services, (2) on-site meeting support and registration services, (3) Writing and editing of conference or meeting materials, (4) mailings and other communications with attendees, (5) distribution of participant payments, (6) computer support and database updating, (7) exhibit coordination, (8) assistance to travelers, (9) support for NSF electronic proposal submission systems (FASTLANE) and WWW-based information systems, and (10) overal conference and meeting planning and management. This requirement has been offered to and accepted by the U.S. Small Business Administration as an 8(a) setaside (SBA Requirement No. 0353-98-802469) to be awarded using competitive proposal procedures. The applicable SIC for this procurement is 8741-Conference Management Service, and the small business size standard is $5.0 million in average annual receipts for the past three complete fiscal years. NSF will consider for award only small, disadvantaged businesses certified by the SBA for participation in the 8(a) Program and having the SIC cited above in their approved business plan.
