a portion of a former home supply/construction supply store into a new
Post Office with carrier loading and distribution, administrative
office space and Postal Retail Store. The construction of the existing
building includes slab on grade, concrete masonry exterior bearing
walls, steel columns, steel joists, and a low slope roof. Demolition
consists of removal of existing exterior doors including loading dock
doors, removal of exterior stairs and part of existing loading slab,
removal of any remaining interior partitions, finishes, and branch
lines and fixtures/ devices of mechanical/ electrical services,
including vinyl composition flooring, acoustic ceiling tile, lighting,
electrical devices, ductwork, sprinkler, piping; removal of masonry
for new openings, etc. Construction consists of metal stud drywall and
block partitions, plumbing, mechanical, and all architectural
finishes, installation of new exterior doors and windows, installation
of a new mezzanine, fabrication and installation of Postal casework
and signage, installation of covered exterior loading slabs, canopies,
and flagpole, and installation of exterior fencing and gates, exterior
paint, and lighting, a new emergency generator, etc. Offeror must have
a minimum of five (5) years experience as a General contractor and
must have satisfactorily completed at least five (5) projects of
similar size and scope. A preproposal conference has been scheduled for
May 7, 1998 at 10:00 am at One & Olney Plaza, Front & Nedro Streets,
Philadelphia PA 19120. The estimated price range is between $1,660,000
and $2,028,000 with completion required within 210 calendar days after
receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Solicitation packages will be
available on or about April 30, 1998 at $ 65.00 per set,
