E-MAIL: Marianne R. Campbell, marianne.campbell@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for an autoprobe CP microscope. The AP-190 autoprobe CP microscope base unit consists of a controller and software, the microscope stage and 100 micro scanner, multi-task probe head, cantilever and chip carrier. The AP-190 base unit shall also include the following requirements: 1. PSVT-1000 vibration isolation table, 2. PSMS-1000 on-axis optical microscope with color video system, 3. Matrox video card 4. PSML-0010 and PSML-0020 objective lens, 5. PSMC-0100 material analysis package, 6. PSEM-0200 EFM tool kit, 7. PSIT-0005 MFM tool kit, 8. APMC-0001 microcell, and 9. On-site installation and training. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the above items from Park Scientific Instruments, Inc. (PSI) The autoprobe CP Microscope is a compatible system for Marshall Space Flight Center's (MSFC) existing Ultra High Vaccuum (UHV) scanning probe. PSI, Inc. made the MSFC UHV and are the only known suppliers for the UHV and the microscope with an exchangable scanning probe head and compatible system operating software. Pursuant to FAR 13.106, it is determined that the above supplies are reasonably available from only one source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 7 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 7 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
